Africa Has the Resources. Now It’s Time Africa Keeps the Value

African partnerships in mining are not just a good idea, they are the most important thing we can be doing right now. Africa holds over 30% of the world’s mineral reserves. And yet, for decades, much of the value generated from those resources has left the continent. That story is changing. But it only changes if African businesses make a deliberate choice to work together.

To build supply chains, share expertise, and create partnerships across borders that keep value on the continent where it belongs.

That is exactly what Tincol Mining is doing. This month, as Africa celebrated Africa Day, we formalised a strategic partnership with GenProp in Zambia. It is a partnership built on a shared belief: that African companies, working together, can deliver better outcomes for the African continent. We are not waiting for someone else to lead this. We are leading it.

Why African Partnerships Change Everything.

There’s a difference between doing business in Africa and building something in Africa. One extracts value. The other creates it. When African companies partner with each other across borders, the dynamic shifts. Revenue stays closer to the source. Local employment grows. Skills are transferred and retained. Supply chains become stronger and more resilient because they’re built by people who understand the terrain – literally and figuratively.

Cross-border African partnerships in mining also send a signal to the market: that Africa can organise its own value chain. That African operators can meet international standards. That you don’t need to look outside the continent for expertise, supply, or reliability. This matters because perception shapes investment. Every successful African-led mining partnership makes the next one easier to build.

Tincol Mining & GenProp: Building Together in Zambia.

By partnering with Genprop in Zambia, Tincol Mining is bringing our lab consumables supply expertise directly into one of Africa’s most active mining regions. We’re not supplying from a distance. We’re building a presence, a relationship that means Zambian mining operations have access to the right consumables from a supplier that understands their environment and is invested in their success.

This is what African partnership looks like in practice. Not just a commercial agreement – a commitment to being present, reliable, and genuinely useful to the operations we serve.

For the mining labs and operations we work with in Zambia, this means shorter lead times, better availability, and a supply partner who picks up the phone. For Tincol Mining, it means expanding our footprint across the continent in a way that’s grounded in real relationships and real value.

We are proud of what we are building with GenProp. And we are just getting started.

Africa Day: A Reminder of What We’re Building Towards.

Africa Day on the 25th of May is always a moment to reflect. To celebrate how far the continent has come. But for those of us in business, particularly in an industry as central to Africa’s story as mining, it’s also a challenge. A challenge to make sure that our work contributes to something bigger than the next contract or the next quarterly report.

At Tincol Mining, our partnership with GenProp in Zambia is our answer to that challenge this year. It is our way of saying, we believe in African partnership, we are investing in it, and we are building something that reflects the potential of this continent.
